He seemed nice the day of my daughter’s surgery, but today he was a worthless ding dong. His staffers told us we needed to book our follow up appointment for today, because it was the last one for the year despite Dr. Berland saying to wait for 3 months. We were told to wait 25 minutes after my daughter’s eyes were dilated and instead waited more than an hour and a half. When I politely mentioned the wait had been very long I was reprimanded for raising the issue and lectured that he was an important surgeon with complicated cases and that I should have known the wait would be more than 2 hours as this is normal for him. I had three procedures with Dr. Neufeld: ptosis surgery, blepharoplasty, full-face laser resurfacing. Each required expensive, painful, anxiety-producing followup surgery. While the ptosis surgery was first performed in the surgical suite, he did a correction in his exam room - I wasn't asked my preference. He was outstanding for 3 visits/procedures.
Dr. Berland is extremely dismissive and rude to parents. I waited an hour between nurse and seeing him in a room that is not child friendly for my 14 month old. He then rushed the appointment, spoke over me and didn't even let me finish a thought. He then spits out medical terms to his assistant and didn't bother to look at the file before coming in so he just read everything from a month ago out loud. I believe the Dr. knows his stuff but could explain the path of treatment better. Some of the staff are not top drawer. They have a bad attitude toward patients. I had a long wait, over an hour. Staff should never, ever laugh at the patient. I will never go back there. I had a bad family situation where someone died and they thought it was funny: they broke out laughing. Very low-class.
We should have read these reviews before seeing the doctor. Many of the reviews here are true.This doctor seems to be very rushed and we felt he needs proper ethics when talking to parents of the kids. He didn’t explain anything about my kid’s nearsightedness instead he just said that he has mild eyesight and doesn’t recommend eye glasses. I had a problem with my eyelids, specially the one on my left eye. It got to the point that it was blocking my vision, my sister had the same problem some time ago, she told me about Dr. Neufeld and she was very happy with the results, I was nervous specially with( COVID 19) going around, but after my firth visit with Dr. Neufeld and his teem I feel safe and really good about it.
