Dr. Luna is not your typical doctor. He takes time to listen to your concerns and get to know you and the things that impact your health. Unfortunately his staff and the scheduling of appointments do not hold up to the care that Dr. Luna gives. Wait times for appointments are 1 hour + (my experience), staff does not bother to advise if the doctor is running behind (which is always), staff will belittle you and yell at you should you voice a dissatisfaction with the wait time.
This is purely based on Dr. Luna's staff. He is a great doctor, but his staff are extremely rude and non-accommodating to patients. I was literally in tears due to medical issues I've been dealing with and the staff just responded to me cold-heartedly. Staff will just knock on the door during my appointment and come right in asking the doctor if he wants coffee. I can't express enough my discontent with the lack of professionalism and compassion here. I love Dr. Luna, but I will not return.
I first saw Dr Luna in 2008 while on active duty, I love the fact that he builds a relationship with his patients, he takes the time to listen and doesn't have an ego that prevents him from referring you out to another doctor. If he doesn't know something he admits it and sends you where the answers may be found. I recently returned to the Bay Area and have no problem traveling from San Jose to see him, may have to wait but worth it. I love his staff never been rude.
It's very frustrating that a patient waits longer than 1 1/2 hours to see the doctor. In our case, our appt. is at 11am and and it's 1243pm and we haven't been called in. I talked to drs assistant and inquired what's the hold up and also told her we've been waiting for 1 1/2 hours, and she said if we're not happy we can leave or find another doctor, at least that's the implication. She explained that the dr had an emergency phone call and that kept the doctor on the phone. UNACCEPTABLE!
Friendly????knowledgable and very caring
I waited over a month for an appointment. When I arrived they told me that I should have not been scheduled at that time (not my fault they have a VERY messy scheduling system, and didn't know why I was scheduled at that time), and that I would have a very long wait. The receptionist was rude, and I ended leaving without any medical care.
Excellent clinician, great sense of humor, puts the patient first
