Dr. Houston is an old-school physician with an equally old-school grumpy 'bedside manner'. Truly like stepping back into the early 1960's and a perfect fit for my 92 year old mother. She appreciated his fondness for the 'good old days when a million units of penicillin in the bottom did the trick for most of his patients'. Dr Houston is the best. He is always willing to listen to your concerns and help in any way he can. He was my husband’s doctor, and insisted on seeing him when I mentioned at my appointment that he had a hard time on the treadmill at his workout the day before. He insisted my husband come in that day, which he did, and 2 days later he had quadruple by-pass. He also called me at my work to make sure my husband went for a repeat blood work over Christmas because he was concerned about something and my husband just put it off. ... read more

i was appalled at the restroom i had to use while waiting to be seen, a file cabinet , medical boxes piled high and a shelf next to the toilet that had so much dust on it , i dont think its ever been cleaned

Although he is very competent in his knowledge he will max out his charges on your insurance if possible. Also expect to see him even if you are calling for refill of a rx ( like an inhaler ) prior to him calling it in. If you have no co-pay then this may not trouble you. But if you have been on the rx for decades and he needs to see you prior to calling it in you will find yourself as frustrated as I am. It is all about the money and he will complain about his overhhead if you address it.
