I would strongly steer people away from Laurel Sills. Although I spoke with her many years ago, a friend and I discovered we both saw her and both had negative experiences. Laurel specializes in Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which is interesting because she appears to embody this disorder herself. When I had gone there her room only had pictures of her and her dog , which I thought was odd, however it was the guilt tripping comments when she suggested I do something and I decided against it that were too much for me. I ... read more
Dr.sills seems to be more concern about getting paid. Dr.sills talked how great she is, and about her own life. When I ended my care Dr. Sills bombarded my phone with Text messages to keep my care. Then text me more about insurance how little they pay and also getting paid.
I spoke to her twice on the phone a few years ago. I wanted to know what she charged, the type of therapy she did. In the first conversation, she was ranting about insurance because she didn't take any insurance at that time and it was affecting her income. I thought maybe I caught her on a bad day. About a year later, I tried calling again. This time she was ranting about her degree, PsyD, because no one knew what it was. I tried to tell her I knew exactly what it was because my niece has the same degree. I don't think she ... read more
Dr. Sill's “therapeutic” approach is deeply rooted in her own personal perspectives. She frequently interrupted to share anecdotes from her own life and seemed to project those experiences onto me. Basically everyone is a narcissist and she seems to focus on making you see that. Our last session, conducted over the phone, unfortunately concluded with a challenging exchange where Dr. Sill continuously interrupted me to forcefully express her viewpoints. When I politely questioned how she has come to such strong conclusions af... read more
Dr. Sills is masterful clinician, with exceptional insight into human behavior. I was impressed by her persistence , honesty and compassion in helping me reach my goals. Her sometimes unique approach to therapy was caring and helpful. Very grateful for this experience.
My experience w/ Dr. Sills was disturbing to say the least. During my second visit she referred to another patient in the waiting room as a “narcissist.” I should have listened to my instincts and never returned. Red flag #2 was the unusual amount of time she spent talking about herself and directly to her dog (who was always present) during sessions. After repeatedly forgetting important topics we’d previously discussed she became furious when I politely asked her if she reviewed her notes before seeing me. She angrily told... read more
I also did not make an appointment with her. I reached out via text on a Sunday afternoon, told her I'd like to make an appointment to see if we could work together on my issues, told her my insurance carrier and assumed I'd hear from her Monday. I got a reply a couple hours later, clearly annoyed I contacted her on a weekend, and dismissed my insurance saying she hasn't dealt with that company for years. Which I would have no way of knowing. I own a business, too. I get calls and texts at all hours of any day on my cell pho... read more
Very unprofessional and rude. The first time we interacted, I was not even called by my name and the entire exchange focused on her and how little money she could make from my insurance and how great she is. Very very self absorbed and conceited. I have never seen a professional act this way. It is absurd and unethical. Unbelievable to me that a doctor would carry themselves this way. It reminds me why I don’t trust therapists anymore.
I received therapy from literally dozens of therapists to get help from depression. They were a total waste of time and money, which made me even more depressed. About 20 years ago, I received therapy from Dr. Sills. She was down to the root cause of the issue quickly, kept me focused on the root cause, and helped me address it. Her therapy is effective, efficient, and long lasting.
