If you have visited this dentist and found him odd or unprofessional, you are correct. I am one of his “ex-wives.” I couldn’t make it through 90 days “married” to Dr. Shumate. The last straw was that I came across HIV medication and I previously asked him about STIs. Fortunately, I tested negative. I believe the public has a right to know this potential info about their doctors. In other countries, doctors who are HIV-positive must register and get tested often to ensure a low viral load. I have been a patient with Dr Shumate since he started his practice in Waldorf. Dr. Shumate and his staff have always accommodated me. In cases where he didn't feel like he was the best person for the job, he provided me with wonderful recommendations. Recently he performed an extensive surgery, and a few days later I had some concerns. He took the time to face time me in the moment to address my issues, and I was relieved. I highly recommend you give him a try.

I’m extremely disappointed with Dr. Shumate dental practice. My crown fell out, I called the office and was told I had to pay for an X-ray and evaluation. It’s been less than 2 years for the crown. Not reasonable, out pocket fees.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Dr. Kenneth Shumate's Waldorf office. It seemed like the receptionist was left to handle matters that should have been addressed by the dentist himself. Dr. Shumate was unable to engage in a conversation about my concerns regarding the service during my appointment.
