The doctor is extremely thorough and very straight forward. He is up to date in the latest urology treatment and will most definitely offer a second opinion in any situation that we don't agree. He is supposed to be your doctor not your friend...so if you want answers about your urinary Heath go see Dr. Joe Alvarez.
Been going for over 10 years -excellent diagnostician . I have recommended him several times to others .
Very experienced surgeon, no bedside manner. He's harsh and rough on patients. He's very slow, you wait forever to get in out! He's understaffed, very overwhelmed, impatient,too many patients as he is the only urologist in elizabeth city. Nurses are great, staff rude like him. His office is old, dirty and has old equipment. Needs to update and modernize to 2017 standards. Patients may take him more seriously if did. Great mind and surgeon. It's too bad.
The wait times are horendous sometimes over an hour after appointment I would look for service elsewhere if he wasn't one of the only doctors in town. Patient scheduling and management should be revised
