Doctor Bettencourt takes some getting used to. He is very thorough which may seem like an interrogation at first but it's really just him trying to get all the info he needs in order to help. He will spend all the time necessary when you're in his exam room - this has impressed me over and over again. He's been an advocate for me making sure I get to the correct type of specialist and get the treatment needed. My advice would be to get to know him and you will see that he's a caring, knowledgeable, thorough physician.
I have always been treated with kindness, clarity and Dr. Bettencourt follows up on my treatment. Staff helpful, too.
I have to disagree with some of the other reviews as many of these complaints (unprofessional, unfriendly staff, Dr. B's demeanor, etc) are unfounded. I have seen him about 6-7x over the last 2 years. I am a fairly uncomplicated case (and certainly not worth alot of money) and he and the staff treats me very well each time. The guy is certainly not ADD, I think he is balancing what you say with his electronic medical records program. Doctor's social interaction skills severely challenged and renders any medical knowledge he may have totally ineffectual. Possibly he is ADD, I don't know, but his ability to comprehend what this patient had to say and the care he was looking for was non-existent. If I wanted a patient to never return to my office, I would purposefully mimic Bettencourt's demeanor and interactions, and this would insure that the patient would never return.
Worst doctor office I have ever been too. Staff is very unhelpful and I have had same problems with billing. Insurance says one thing and Doc bill is something else and always more.
Lots of misdiagnoses. Brings insurance problems to the patient, even though as a dr., they contract with insurance company for 'x' amount rate. Not professional in that aspect, but eager to try.
I'm very happy with the care I have been given. Would highly recomment Dr. Bettencourt. Staff is very friendly.
Doctor chargers you the overage above what the insurance co agrees to pay. Nurse PJ is rude and disrespectful, she talks over you and will not listen to what you have to say then will hang up on you when you start to get upset because you can't talk. Doctor will not call you back forcing you to try to communicate with PJ. Doctor will tell you one thing when you visit and then do the opposite.
