PLEASE BE AWARE. Went to this Dr for my annual, preventive care, visit and he billed for a regular visit. This caused me to get billed additional fees. Nurse took blood pressure and vitals but he never even examined me. I guess he was in a rush to send out his bill. This office also billed me for an EKG that was never performed. As long as your insurance pays bills correctly they treat you properly. If you encounter insurance/billing issues they want nothing to do with you. Even after 8 yrs of patient loyalty disappointing when facing real medical issues and can't get help from your DR.
I was a patient for 2 years. The last year in particular the staff got to be pretty bad. It was nearly impossible for them to call in the correct prescriptions to my pharmacy. It took several attempts with 3 different people over a two week period to get it right...so I thought. Only to find out it was the wrong dosage. I asked to talk to Dr. Bornfreund twice and he never returned my calls. It doesn't matter how good the doctor is when the staff can't get it right. It's too bad because Dr Bornfreund is really a nice guy.
I have been a patient of Dr. Bornfreund for nearly 10 years. Everything was fine until I lost my health insurance. After getting behind (missing one month's payment) our account was flagged. I have hypertension Level 2 and can die without meds. He refused to give me a 30 day extension when I ran out unless I came in and paid $120 exam fee plus the $430 outstanding bill first. Dr. Bornfreund is always careful to explain the options available to me, and explain which route he feels will work the best for me. He's always got a good bedside manner, and out of over a dozen visits to his office, the only person who's ever even remotely upset me there was another patient. Very helpful and polite nursing staff, phone staff always punctual on call backs.. first doctor I've seen in years that I was completely comfortable with.
I would not recommend this dr to anyone. I have since learned that when you are new to a dr, they will wait to get your records before ordering test. This is not the case here. Although I had told him I had been up to date, he ordered tests at my expenses before getting the records. I still can't be sure if he is an alarmist or runs up bills, but, in any case, not a doctor I want to see. He was also careless when reading the chart as his nurse had to correct him.
This is a very nice office everyone there is happy and very helpful I enjoy being there
I Love Dr. Bornfreund! Me and my sister and my mother uses him. he knows me very well cause i always get sick. =] I would highly recomend him. I am only thirteen and he is funny. He tricked me into doing blood work onee time because he said how about we do some blood work and he said do me a favor look up at the ceiling now look down at the floor and said that looks like a yes to me!
