Bedside manner matters! His is beyond horrible! Referring to me as "the patient" repeatedly! Had no emotion or empathy. It was as if he was a robot. Didn't look at any of my previous surgery records, I was told to bring. Totally wasted my time.
I agree with the other one star reviews! This guy has no bedside manner! Verging on downright rude! He didn't explain anything, just said I needed surgery. Got a second opinion from another ortho who said there was no reason to do surgery. Stay away!
I have seen Dr. Shafer twice now for a shoulder issue. Each time he was professional and I am happy with the treatments given. I’m also a retired RN.
I researched the docs at this clinic as I don't take putting my life in someone's hands lightly. I have a M.D. friend and asked him his opinion. He looked into his education, residency, and certifications... Dr. Shafer's credentials are topnotch. He did such a great job with my first surgery that I scheduled another surgery with him to do the other side. He is smart, adept, and efficient. I’d give Dr Shafer 6 stars if I could. I saw Dr Shafer today for my trigger thumb, and he was patient, took time to educate me about my condition, explained the options for treatment, and even took the time to address an unrelated concern I have with my other hand. I chose to try the injections first, and have to say once again Dr Shafer explained each step of the process, took his time, and was very skilled with administering two injections.
