Dr. Downey seeks to find out the cause of the issue. He doesn't just push pills. If all you are seeking is pills and not TRUE long term relief go see another provider. Some patients do not want to do the work that is required to assist in treatment. If you do your part, he can do his. He is one of the best providers I have ever encountered. He takes time to explain, answers questions, and puts you at ease while doing it.
If you're going to see this physician for pain relief till you can find the underlying cause, save your money and time.
Great at explaining and answering questions. In my opinion, too strict about missing appointments. I was dropped because I missed 2 appointment times in a twelve month period, but because of the opioids I was taking, I could barely remember my name sometimes. A little harsh under circumstances, but otherwise a very competent doctor and pleasant office to visit.
Dr. Downsey takes the care of his patients very seriously. He is not a pill-pushing kinda' pain specialist...he finds the root cause of your pain and puts together a plan to help you in coping with that pain. He has strict rules and expects you to follow them and if you don't, he will dismiss you as a patient. I respect his integrity. I was in a wheelchair due to being so drugged up from another pain clinic when I first saw Dr. Downey. Within a couple of weeks, he had me back to normal.
Dr Downey is the first pain management specialist that has shown an interest in discovering the cause of my pain and finding ways to help me cope and function. He is not just interested in prescribing medications. He offers real, usuable solutions.
