Dr. Burney saw me for only about 15 minutes before my surgery. He was too busy to meet with me and pushed me off to his assistants. The surgery didn't go well and I have more knee pain now than before I ever went to his office. I never saw him after the surgery either. He never followed up with me. I had surgery in February 2023. I still can not walk without pain.
My wife became a patient of Dr. Burney who perform, a routine knee replacement procedure. Now 10 months later, her knee pain is much greater than before the procedure and she can hardly walk a distance of 1 block. After the surgery, Dr. Burney never saw her again. She was referred to another doctor, who did his best, but the final results are simply more pain and extremely limited mobility.
I went to Dr Z for a second opinion and was so impressed that I stayed. I have worked with many doctors and their staffs over the years. It is a solid group. The PAs are wonderful. One of measures is their willingness and ability to listen. I give them a 4.5/5 which is as high as I ever go. I have been impressed by their ability to access MRIs on line. They know their stuff. Very clear in describing what the problem is. Does not do surgery unless medically necessary. Has a great team behind him! I recommend Dr. Kushal Patel for any sports injury, joint discomfort, or injuries from a fall. Get his opinion!
My husband and I had shoulder surgery three and four years ago. He was exceptional in all aspects of his profession. Our recovery went faster than usual because of a procedure he offered. Treatment and recovery was above and beyond.
He is a poor communicator. He would not even tell me he prescribed medications and exercise plans but I would see it in my portal notes weeks after. If I did not ask a question he will be mute the full visit. His office does not respond to messages for weeks. PA is terrible. Find a better doctor with more experience and better office support staff.
I am writing this review because I see all of these low review scores for Dr. Zavala and my experience with him was amazing. Dr. Zavala did emergency surgery on my ankle after I had broken it in 3 places. He was so kind and compassionate and helped to calm the fears I had at the time because I had never broken a bone in my life. The surgery he performed was amazing!
