Would strongly recommend finding a different doctor and hospital network. First, it took over a year to even get a callback about an appointment with anyone in UCSF Urology. Ultimately, despite having a PPO, I needed to go through my PCP to get any response. I signed up for routine tests, family planning, and to check out a hopefully benign but concerning issue. James showed up to our Zoom meeting, briefly reviewed my information in 5 minutes, recommended an over-the-counter test, and was done and off in under 15 minutes. I ... read more
UNPROFESSIONAL !!! Promised to give the result in 3 weeks but never heard from him or his team and it’s already 6 weeks. Tried to call multiple times and no one picked up. Whoever his nurse is should be fired.

I have been lucky enough to have Dr. Smith as my urologist for 3-4 years and think he is one of the most attentive, kindest and smartest doctors I have ever encountered. I have seen many doctors across lots of specialties and normally don’t care too much if a doctor makes up for lack of personality or empathy by extreme competence. However there is no such trade off with him. His bedside manner alone should be the model to aspire to in medical schools across the country.
