Dr. Shankwiler is the best in every category. He cares for and treats the whole person intuitively. I trust my care in his hands. He explains thoroughly. His smile heals as he greets you. He listens, and you can hear him treat all his patients with the same kindness and personal care. Dr. Shankwiler is an exceptional doctor and healer.

Excellent surgeon. I broke my elbow (the tip, 'olecranon') ten months ago. I found Dr. Shankwiler and now that it is healed (which took three months, during which I needed help with dishes, etc.) I am back to playing the cello regularly, gardening, and lifting heavy things. I have two pins and a wire wrap still in place, which I feel ever so slightly from time to time, but it is not an issue. Super smart, knowledgeable and a wonderful human being.
Dr. Shankwiler has performed three surgeries on my shoulders and will probably replace my shoulder soon. He is the most caring, honest and knowledgeable physician I’ve ever met. I highly recommend him to everyone looking for a Ortho specialist.
Dr Shankwiler is so compassionate, understanding, knowledgeable and kind. He takes the time to really listen and helps you to understand. I feel so blessed to have a doctor that I completely trust in.
Dr. Shankwiler is compassionate and professional. He explained my shoulder replacement surgery completely. He called me personally at home after I left a message with his exchange for a slight issue I was having with pain medication.
I tore the supraspinatus muscle in my left shoulder. Several people had recommended Dr. Shankwiler. After he operated in 2010, I regained 100% range of motion w/ physical therapy, & have no visible scars. My arm had to be immobilized for 4+ weeks, so I was glad it was not my right hand. He recommends a more conservative course of PT than some other surgeons, beginning w aqua therapy, but the results are worth it. Dr. Shankwiler is a very caring surgeon w/ a good sense of humor.
