Dr Shankwiler is so compassionate, understanding, knowledgeable and kind. He takes the time to really listen and helps you to understand. I feel so blessed to have a doctor that I completely trust in.

Dr. Shankwiler is compassionate and professional. He explained my shoulder replacement surgery completely. He called me personally at home after I left a message with his exchange for a slight issue I was having with pain medication.

I tore the supraspinatus muscle in my left shoulder. Several people had recommended Dr. Shankwiler. After he operated in 2010, I regained 100% range of motion w/ physical therapy, & have no visible scars. My arm had to be immobilized for 4+ weeks, so I was glad it was not my right hand. He recommends a more conservative course of PT than some other surgeons, beginning w aqua therapy, but the results are worth it. Dr. Shankwiler is a very caring surgeon w/ a good sense of humor. Highly recommend

Comment is directly related to poor experience in appt scheduling which was confirmed after giving all insurance/info requested. I waited 4 days w/shoulder injury and was called 2 hours prior to the appt that they did not accept my insurance. Very disappointing experience due to inefficient office staff. I would not recommend as they have caused needless suffering which could have been avoided if they let me know sooner. Will file complaint directly with the ER and the doctor's office.

I did a great deal of research on the doctors before I decided on Dr. Shankwiler. He was beyond my expectations. He's personable, answered each of my questions in language I could understand, even let me record my Q & A's, explained all the procedures in depth until I was satisfied. The Dr. was not my 2nd opinion but my 3rd. He has saved me from having shoulder replacement surgery. I had my surgery 04/28/16 and will have him fix my other shoulder soon. I'm VERY happy.

My husband is a neurologist and I am a nurse. Dr. Shankwiler is the best orthopedic doctor around. My husband had an extremely bad fracture of his arm while on vacation in Europe. Other doctors said he would never had full range of motion again but we brought him back to the USA and had Dr. Shankwiler do the surgery and he has 90% range of motion. Great bedside manner as well.

I adore Dr. Shankwiler. He performed two rotator cuff surgeries on me almost 15 years ago. To date, I have no problems with either shoulder. The pain and limited use of my arms prior to surgery was extreme and debilitating, but Dr. Shankwiler took magnificent care of me. Not only is the good doctor caring, he was upfront and honest with me about the entire process and the various results that might occur. He is kind.
