I had a disappointing experience with Irada Shapiro. I went in requesting a routine pelvic exam and was told that a pelvic exam could not be performed without also doing a pap smear, and that the two were essentially the same. I was also told that I could not receive birth control without being examined and was left with the impression that I had no option but to proceed with a pap smear. Not the best bedside manor. The doctor kept getting interrupted in the middle of a test which involved her looking and cutting inside my body. The nurse kept coming in and out, and the doctor actually left in the middle of the procedure. Being a gynecologist involves conducting very personal and life altering procedures, as a patient that puts me in a very vulnerable position, which should be taken seriously and a degree of compassion and dignity. I have seen dr Shapiro throughout the years whenever she was the only dr available. I was never satisfied with any of those visits especially the most recent one. She has horrible bedside manner, she rushes the appointments, she shows no compassion for her patients and doesn’t listen to concerns. I recently had a miscarriage and ended up in the hospital. I did my follow up and with her and it did not go well. I have fibroids which caused excess bleeding and excruciating pain. She sent me back to work within 3 days after I ex... read more
