I would never recomend buying a home from DR Horton. My daughter and son-in-law bought a DR Horton home approximately 4 years ago. In early February of this year (2025) my daughter and son-in-law's basement began flooding due to what we believe are structural defects in the building of my daughter and son-in-law's DR Horton home, as well as several other defects in the building of their home. I own a D.R. Horton home built by their Cincinnati division, and I am beyond disappointed with the quality and oversight. I paid $343,000 for a house that looks like it was rushed together by untrained crews just to check boxes. To be fair, Austin has been great — professional, responsive, and clearly the only person trying to make things right. Unfortunately, Amy, Ron, Scott, and Cody have been the opposite. Christine at Lakefield Place is very helpful. Doesn’t always have the answer, but she will always get back with you with the answer. When I have gone to her with an issue, she is always very kind and concerned. I feel like she cares about the neighborhood and DR Horton customers. Most of the time when I go into DR Horton field office, Christina is the one that is there, but I’m sure Judy is very helpful also.
You will be buying a shoddy dangerously constructed worthless pile of trash. The house is wrapped in 1/8" cardboard not OSB plywood which is industry standard. Not even on the roof has obs sheeting. So it will easily blow over in a tornado. Watch youtube videos about this company. Some guy his was 7 years old and the whole front of his brick was about to fall off and the header on the front wasnt even on top of the posts. Homes full of mold. Lots of plumbing leaks. . If you buy a new home and the 30 day post closing items comes around they want you to take off work to meet them in your house to look at the items. They don’t work past 330pm nor do they work weekend. Hope this post may help new potential buyers. I’m sure other builders are the same.
