I started having acute HBP that went as high as 171 over 102, Stage 2 Hypertension, for no known reason. I wasn't stressed out then, I'm still young, athletic, & otherwise in good health. My PCP put me on HBP medication and referred me to Dr. Hiva Vakil. I wanted to understand what caused this and why. I had cardiac artery graph bypass surgery X2. Heart ablation, and had my left atrial appendage clipped. There was also a planned mitral valve replacement or repair. Dr. Kirshner wisely noted that with the increased circulation after the bypass, the mitral valve was so minimal as to not justify surgery. The judgement of this doctor is excellent, his bedside manner is excellent, his skill was top notch, and for such and invasive procedure, the have been absolutely no complications. I want to thank Dr. Kirshner for repairing my heart on September 14th, 2022. Up to and after surgery he made me confident I was in good hands. His staff, Sherrie and Sandy were the best support and took care of the rest. Abrazo Heart Hospital was home for 8 days and I am eternally grateful to their nurses. Thank you. I can climb stairs and talk at the same time without running out of breath.
My husband and I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Stephen Smith due to my husband's swollen leg and calf pain. Concerned about blood clots, both Dr. Smith and his resident assured us that my husband's age ruled out such a possibility. They booked an ultrasound in three weeks for confirmation. It is a good doctor with a lot of experiences and knowledge abd a good listener and patience.
Dr. Kirshner explained my options and answered every question to my satisfaction. His follow up each day I was in the hospital was attentive and helpful. His staff is excellent.
Doctors from other disciplines are legally allowed to do the surgery that Dr Smith does but their training is different and you will have different results. Wish I had known years ago. My husband is no longer suffering excruciating daily pain and like the other lady wrote - glad to have my husband back! Thank you Dr Smith!
His prejudice proceeds him. I have every reason to believe he is a good doctor, to some patients.
