Dr Cecchi saved my life. I left a popular oncologist when she was pumping me full of chemo I didn't need following an operation for pancreatic cancer. When I complained that I was feeling very sick, she assured me I was getting almost the lowest dose of chemo, and when I mentioned that to a nurse, she said no, that I was getting almost the highest dose, and confirmed that after checking my chart. So I left and went to Dr. Cecchi for care.Dr. Cecchi ran a full battery of tests and all of them came back negative. I did not hav... read more

He looked at me and my chart and put me on Cemiplimab. That was in early December 2019 and almost 5 years later I'm still here. I really wanted to thank him for saving my life but unfortunately he had quit Alta Bates before I had my second infusion. Gary, you asked me to call you Gary, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You, Thank You for saving my life.

Miss him, he left Sutter Health and have yet to find a dr a capable and thorough. He advocates strongly on behalf of his patients.

He truly cares about his patients and won’t order any unnecessary harmful treatment. He’s very intelligent and up on all the latest procedures and medication. Love this doctor and has really helped me with my MDS.

I found him brusque and dismissive. I also felt demeaned when he suddenly decided to pat me down (feeling for lymph nodes?) while I was fully clothed including in a jacket, from armpits to a whack in the crotch, while people were watching. He appears to be tired of his job and spoke of wishing to retire.

If you're looking for a more compassionate and thorough doctor, please look elsewhere. Dr. Cecchi was my mother's doctor, and after diagnosing her with late stage, didn't really care for her. Every subsequent visit was short, concise, and always gave a negative outlook in everything. He always reminded us of her amount of time left, never wanting to give new treatments a try, and never even said anything positive or consoled us. Really? Even if the situation is bad, a doctor should be more compassionate, attentive to patient... read more

Made an appointment for a consultation, turns out that his office is in a hospital and I got billed for hospital charges. No ethics in the medical community. Find a different Dr.

I have been Dr. Checchi’s patient for four years. I have a rare blood cancer and it creates many problems. He has a lot of knowledge and deals with each symptom as it arrives. I have four stars because The Herrick Center isn’t for everyone - staff changes often and there can be long waits. I stick with the center because it allows me to get all my treatments in one place - doc, port maintenance, blood tests infusions and transfusions. I see my Dr every 6 weeks. It’s not the most efficient place but I think the convenience of... read more

Terrible-long wait for a 5 min visit. Recommended chemo without doing a special test on my cancer to see if I even would benefit from chemo. I went to another medical oncologist who recommended the test first. Turned out I do not benefit from chemo! BEWARE!!
