I am very thankful that I was referred to Dr Stern. I have overcome great obstacles and I'm not sure where I would be if I was not under his care. He may appear to be intimidating at first, but one will find that he has an amazing bedside manner (and a great sense of humor).
Caring and on top of current medications, though also seems to know which older meds without frills work. First shrink that has stabilized me. Compassionate. He's a "real" person. Takes my self-awareness and experience as a guide, i.e. isn't trying to let me diagnose myself - or pigeonhole me. Also, on time. His office staff is genial. But don't miss your appt or you'll be charged (rightfully so).
Great doctor!
Dr. Stern isnt like most Psychiatrists. This is the first dr I've found who told me if I was medicated properly, people wouldnt know I took medication and that we'd find something for me that worked. This was so relieving since every dr I have seen puts me on their little mixture of drugs they think works for all bipolar patients. I felt like Dr stern was treating me as a person not my disorder. He understands that everyone person with or without a disorder is different and there's no mold.

Excellent. Knows his diagnosis of my situation right off the bat. Knows all the appropriate meds, old and new off the top of his head. I totally trust him...
Dr. Stern is not suited to be in the mental heath field. As the door opened calling out for my name, I smiled and walked towards the door. At no time did Dr. Stern introduce himself or show any kind of bed side manner. His impersonal and disinterested demeanor persisted as he coldly began to question me and wen I answered his questions he seemed dissatisfied and his tone quickly became abrasive.
