Totally professional. I don't understand why anyone would say otherwise. You are probably better off formulating your own opinion. Behavioral/Emotional help is a very personal process. If you are uncomfortable it may just be a bad fit. Don't givup on yourself. Look for another psychiatrist, or maybe a psychologist if you don't need medication.
Spent two hours a two weeks ahead of time doing a phone intake interview, only to have the nurse practitioner do the exact same set of questions with me at the beginning of my appointment. After all that, Dr. Geller walks in, grunts at me, and asks the nurse, “What am I doing with this one? Medication management or a referral for psychotherapy?” He didn’t spend 30 seconds talking to me. I went there for an evaluation (due to somatic symptoms), which their website says they do.
