I was going in for surgery on the 11th Dec for my stage 4 bowel cancer. I was looking to get a bag on my right side of my stomach from Dr. Ewan McDermott. I am offended for 2 reasons. #1 - My options for DNR and no blood transfusion were not respected. #2 - The face they left on my stomach with markers is insulting, making me look like I am a dead man. Very grateful for Dr MacDermid who recently looked after me for emergency surgery. He calm, compassionate and incredibly reassuring the whole way through. He managed my nerves, explained everything clearly and had such a lovely bedside manner. The surgery went perfectly and he even checked on me the next morning. Truly wonderful care. Highly recommend.
