Watching someone you love go through a miscarriage and then have to fight to be heard by their provider has been heartbreaking. My friend repeatedly communicated that her symptoms were worsening—heavy bleeding, severe cramping, increasing pain—and requested additional testing and discussion of options. I am deeply disappointed by the care my friend received during her miscarriage. There is so much attention placed on prenatal care, yet when someone is actively experiencing pregnancy loss, the compassion and urgency seemed to disappear entirely. She repeatedly reported severe cramping, heavy bleeding, escalating symptoms, and asked multiple times for additional evaluation and discussion of treatment options.
