I had my MVD surgery at UCSF on March 20, 2026, and my surgeon was Dr. Edward Chang. The reason that I chose to have the surgery, was that I'd suffered with Trigeminal Neuralgia for over 4 1/2 years, and was really tired of dealing with it. I took Oxcarbazepine to treat the condition, and this medication made me feel terrible. Now I've had the surgery, and have stopped taking this medication. I feel MUCH better. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Edward Chang and his incredible nurse practitioner, Gen, who cared for my mother. From the very first visit, we knew we were in exceptional hands. At our initial consultation, Gen spent nearly 45 minutes with us, patiently answering every question and making sure we felt informed and supported.
