I was referred to Dr. Duc Tran by an ophthalmologist I trusted, but my experience with him was extremely disappointing from the start.Instead of exploring potential underlying factors such as stress, diet, or sleep, Dr. Tran immediately recommended surgeries on the first visit, without taking my overall health into consideration. I have had two visits and my last one was the worst experience I've ever had with a Doctor. I was referred by my retinologist to Tran as my IOP was very high. My first visit was not satisfactory and very little was offered in the way of therapies or treatment plans. My second visit lasted less than five minutes. He walked into the room and looked at the IOP readings, took about thirty seconds to look in both eyes, got up and said come back in four months. Dr. Tran performed my surgery in 2019, and I have had no problems at all with my sight. His staff is very professional and friendly.
I was disappointed at the care I received. Dr. Tran seemed offended when I asked him questions that I "should have known" and he made me feel as if I wasn't worth the time needed to explain terms or future treatment. If I knew the answers, I wouldn't need to pay him for a visit! He also looked at me as if I were stupid to ask such things about my eyes, and got quite irritated. Dr. Choi has been amazing. After seeing my husband and his strange eye issues, she immediately ordered blood tests and an MRI to find the problem. Due to Covid, patients are not allowed to bring anyone to the appt. My husband did not think to tell her of his quick onset of other ailments or that a different doctor ordered an MRI of different body areas. (He did not think there would be a connection.) Dr. Choi is an amazing and talented doctor. She took time to discuss my case and took care to ensure I got the best care. I have been a patient with Coastal Eye Associates for the past 20 years and a patient with Dr. Choi for the past 10 years or more. I recommend her without any hesitation to all my friends and family.
I would NOT recommend this doctor to even see my dog... does not explain... acts like the patient is stupid.. does not listen to chief complaint and will write patient off when the doctor does not agree with them.
Dr. Tran took his time to explain the Glaucoma Surgery I needed in order to help stop the spreading.
He may know about glaucoma but he is not communicative and acts offended when I ask him questions. Pair that with a haughty, condescending attitude and no, I won't be seeing him again.
