I was led to Dr O'Connell in 2016 for what I found out after a long but very thorough examination was a detached retina! I felt so confident in his care and in the emergency surgery he performed several hours later! I regained my sight in that eye completely! My follow up visits were excellent! In 2020, I started getting floaters in my other eye and immediately recognized that it could be the start of another detached retina. I have been seeing Dr O'Connell for several years now. I have a complex case that he has managed just fine.
I have never been treated so roughly, by a 'professional' in my entire life! He had some sort of tool that was in his hand that dug into my cheek. Lifted my lids and pushed on my face with no regard for the person attached. Along with the bright lights, it truly felt as if I were being tortured. I would never recommend anyone with his bedside manner, or lack thereof, to anyone! BTW, the receptionist was very nice, but she went to lunch(?). Not too thrilled with my experience with this doctor the front desk lady was really nice and friendly. I was 15 minutes early for 1:00 appointment I didn't get seen until almost 1:40 other people that showed up later than me were seen before me. Finally when I saw the eye doctor he wanted me to get my eyes dilated I have a lot of anxiety and fear around it and he never comfort it or reassured me of anything about it so I didn't get it done.
