This was my first colonoscopy. I prepared with magnesium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and sodium sulfate, taking half the day prior and the other half the morning of the procedure (this is called a split prep and works better to clear the colon rather than taking all the prep solution the day prior). Sedation was offered but I declined, choosing instead to watch the procedure through a monitor along with the doctor, who was very kind and answered all my questions. The staff even gave me a copy of some photos taken during the ... read more
Dr. Merchant was kind, patient, and informative. My procedure was completely successful, and my recovery somewhat faster than I expected. His staff and office environment, also, were excellent.
I needed emergency surgery. Dr Patel ( I never seen him before) could see me in 4 days and while surgeons gave me a 2 week wait. A few minutes later his office called and they were able to squeeze me in that very same day when noone else could. He and his staff are amazing! Dr. Patel explained every step to me and he was so gentle. His nurse was friendly and calming. He turned my nightmare day around in a matter of minutes. I totally recommend Dr. Patel :)
Easy making appointments. Always pleasant and takes his time. Never feel rushed. His staff is friendly and efficient. Would recommend him in the future.
Horrible doctor!!! Would not recommend!
Abrasive. Insensitive. Disrespectful to women. Big arrogant streak. Heedless of fearful patients who have had painful GI procedures. Shaken by the encounter.
Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor in my life. Surgery was totally unsuccessful. Complications that I had to fight with him to admit even existed. I recorded our conversation which went like this, " Dr.patel, I am bleeding for 4 weeks now" answer " No you are not, it must be coming from someplace else" me: "But doctor I can see where it is coming from" dr: "oh well maybe so" 3 day recovery took 5 weeks & hemorrhoids returned worse than pre opperation
Went in for a colonoscopy and it went smoothly. Had to have an operation to remove a number of hemorrhoids. I asked him if we cold move the date as I had an important meeting a few days later. He said that it wouldn't be a problem as I would be fine by then; the recovery took six months and I ended up going to Albany med to get relief. Also a week after the surgery, he called me screaming (not exaggerating) that my insurance wouldn't cover the procedure. Turn out it was his mistake.
He suggested me for a surgery from the first visit, I was thinking to do it but I went to see another doctor for the second opinion which solved my problem with just an ointment in 2 weeks. he also charged my insurence company a lot for just an exam. I would definitely not recommend this doctor
