I have been seeing Dr. Cowen for over 4 years. He has been helpful since day 1. He is very kind, a great listener, and provides practical solutions to issue that I bring up. He is a true professional.

I found Dr. Cowen while doing a desperate online search for psychiatrists in my area. My chronic anxiety had suddenly morphed into life-changing panic and agoraphobia. At the time, I was so unwell that I feared even going to his office. At first I thought he was a bit of a stiff, but as we figured each other out, I began my path to wellness, or at least something closer to wellness. I think he truly cared and he pointed me in the right direction when he no longer accepted any insurance.

Dr. Cowen is kind, listens carefully, and responds quickly to any concerns. He makes you feel at ease, more than I can say about any psychiatrist I've encountered. He also works well with teenagers, another rarity. He is highly educated, committed to his profession and patients. Though he is out-of-network, he is worth the cost.

Although outwardly calm and uneffusive, Dr. Cowan cares deeply about his patients (from my personal experience). He is astute and genuine and knows his patients in ways many psychiatrists do not. He does more than prescribe medications, he helps direct the whole treatment process by sharing his thoughts and ideas about other means to help.
