For about 5 yrs I had something wrong with my right thumbnail that was so bad that even the slightest pressure to the half-moon gave me very severe pain. I told my GP and dermatologist but neither knew what it could be. An infection was suspected & I used antibiotic cream with no relief so I stopped. The pain was affecting my ability to use my right (dominant) hand. I was afraid of doing something that would trigger the pain. Even pushing back the cuticle caused excrutiating pain. Finally I was referred to Dr. Polatsch. As s... read more

I saw him in early 2008 & told him I thought my Schapholunate ligament had a tear and I also had this lump in my wrist (which ended up being swelling associated with it my CORRECT assumption - a later MRI's results matched my theory on the issue, my scapholunate was severed and also pointed out that the TFCC was torn - which explains shooting pain all the way up my arm. He started squeezing the swollen area and it hurt to the point I had to brace myself and screamed due to the pain. He yelled at me and said "I NEVER PRESCRIB... read more

Dr. Polatch is the best. I saw 3 other hand doctors in new york city and they were not able to diagnose my problem. Dr. P figured it out right away and took care of the problem. I have been pain free ever since.

Dr. Polatsch repaired my left hand after it was stepped on and broken in a couple of different places. He operated the same week and I have full use of my hand again. I had previous surgery in my right hand after severing my ring and pinky fingers and he is treating me for pain and nerve problems with the old injury. He is WONDERFUL doctor!

Do not see this doctor for anything Carpal Tunnel or Ulnar (Cubital) Tunnel related. I came to him with a strong pain in my arms, and his assistant diagnosed me with Carpal and Ulnar Tunnel Syndromes based on simple exercises that measure hand’s strength and location of pain and/or tingling. X-rays showed nothing. Dr Polatsch confirmed the diagnosis without any further examination. I told him that I most likely got it from spending very long hours typing on a computer and wanted to know what I can do to relieve the pain and ... read more
