He has been a terrific surgeon and very helpful
5 Star All Across the Board!
In 2011, I was referred to Dr. Spence by an orthopedic specialist to correct a Spondylolysis in my lower spine. He replaced two discs and installed a cage consisting of 6 screws to support the spine while my body grew a new bone. Having surgery performed by Dr. Spence was the best medical decision I have ever made. Dr. Spence and his staff were all professional and I was treated respectfully. His work on my back was life-changing. I have not suffered a bulging disc since that surgery. I'm thankful for his steady hands and ca... read more
Overweight patients should not go to this Doctor. I came in for a consultation on my back which needed surgery. He decided to talk about my weight the whole appointment. I have PCOS and have been over200 lbs since age 12. If my back wasn't broken, I could exercise more. And my weight isn't my issue, it was my crushed L5S1 disc and my pelvis out of alignment. He had no compassion.
An ER doctor at Oklahoma Heart Hospital referred my 83 year old mother to Dr Spence after she fell and received an L1 compression fracture. Dr Spence performed an L1 Kyphoplasty which did not relieve her pain at all. Then he sent her to a pain management doctor for an injection which also did not relieve her pain. After a third visit, Dr Spence basically told her she would have to learn how to deal with the pain and manage it because of her osteoporosis. His office manager is not efficient. On two different occasions I have ... read more
He has done 3 surgeries on me. All have gone well. I would recommend him...even if you have to wait several hours to see him...he is that good. Heck...I would pitch a tent and wait...he is that good!
He did surgery on me and messed up my back. He couldn't tighten a screw so he left it, saying he would have to do another surgery to repair it. There was no way I was letting him touch me again. I had to go to another doctor to fix what he did. I'm in extreme pain every day thanks to his carelessness. I don't recommend him. Find another doctor.
Had back surgery a cage. Not much better has caused other problems. He is doing so many surgeries now the people he has already done surgery on can't be seen. So if your new you have a better chance .beware
Dr. Spence is a caring, medical professional. I would feel confident taking any of my three children, or any of my eight grandchildren to him for knowledgeable evaluation and skilfull surgical work if deemed necessary.
