The Drs here were PHENOMINAL. Specifically the one who delivered me, she no longer is there but I was in good hands with all the hospitalists. I gave birth in a holiday, so wait times in the triage was like 7 hours, hospital staff was low. The nursing staff...I had some great L-D nurses but the one who helped deliver my baby...I will never forget the experience. I had such a wonderful experience at Decatur Labor & Delivery. From the moment I arrived, the entire team was so nice, organized, and attentive. But the true STAR of the show was Nurse Abby. When I say this nurse was patient, kind, attentive, and empathetic to my every need—I mean it with my whole heart. She went above and beyond to ensure my safety and the healthiest outcome for my baby. This was my first pregnancy at 33, and I can honestly say I could not have gotten through it without Abby. Was told by the doctor and several nurses that if I leave against medical advice, my insurance would not pay for my baby’s delivery nor my hospital stay because my blood pressure was high and that was a lie. My insurance still paid when I went home my blood pressure went down The staff at That hospital is very misleading and will lie straight to your face.
If you are going to deliver your child here and are a women of color -- May God be with you. This place is not for us, you will be neglected. My labor went fast my delivery nurse Jessica was more focused on setting up for an epidural that never happened than the fact that the baby was coming either way. The doctor didn’t show up until after I pushed him out on my own. All I remember is saying to my nurse “he is coming out!” She said well try not to push” while she was standing at the computer.
