I saw Dr. Berookhim for several years for BPH, and it was managed adequately with medication. This review, however, is based mostly on my recent experience. In June 2021, I saw “one of NYC’s top urologists” for varicose veins in my scrotum; however, he diagnosed me with an enlarged prostate that he said could jeopardize my left kidney and cause it to basically explode. Based on this diagnosis, I scheduled an appointment for what I was told was the ONLY treatment for this condition: Trans-Urethral Reduction of the Prostate, or “TURP” (BTW, this acronym was never stated prior to surgery). Doctor Berookhim and affiliates passionate and care is spectacular. Out come of surgery 3 years later 2023, penile implant feels great and truly maximized size. If ever need to do again I will search these doctors and team.Thanks again guys and girls.
Avoid at all costs. In 2021, performed TURP surgery due to my enlarged prostate, without ever mentioning TURP and what it stood for, never mentioned retrograde ejaculation as an irreversible side effect, and without ever mentioning an alternative option called 'greenlight' surgery, which 1) I only found out about after my own personal Google search and 2) as an alleged 'top rated' urologist he certainly knew about and should have offered to me. Performed TURP surgery on me without once mentioning retrograde ejaculation, and without once offering the option of Greenlight Laser Surgery, which as one of the allegedly top-rated urologists he should have discussed and offered as an alternative.
4 months after surgery she was pregnant! Allowing me to take my time to think about the surgery before going forward and thoroughly explaining my situation and solutions, I decided to proceed. Varicolectemy in Jan 2023 and beautiful baby boy in Feb 2024. I agree he does not spend too much time with the patient but he is thorough and listens. He is also always very busy. Had a surgery with complications, he didn’t follow up at all. Ignored all my calls, had to go back to the ER to get it checked out, and they said he botched the surgery. Would never go back to this guy. Definitely sue him just to get him out of this business.
