I live in FL and had a partial knee replacement with lateral reticular release when I was 29 by a FL surgeon. I was unable to walk or put any weight on that knee/leg following the surgery. I saw Dr. Shubin Stein in NY, 9 months after the failed knee replacement in FL when I realized I wouldn’t recover. I had my surgery with her for MPFL reconstruction, It’s been 6 months since the surgery and I can actually run again! I haven’t ran since November of 2020.
Dr. Shubin Stein was knowledgeable, understanding, extremely intelligent, and a good listener and explainer. We ultimately decided that surgery with a different surgeon at HSS would be the best course of action given my condition and the timeline of it, and she enthusiastically endorsed that plan without a shred of ego or push to have her do my surgery. If you need orthopedic care in Dr. Shubin Stein's specialties, I would strongly endorse her as a provider of choice.
I was not happy with this Dr. I found her to be very conceited, callous, and have zero interest in getting to the bottom of my injury. Her staff was also rude and never returned phone calls. If she can’t make money off you by operating, she wants nothing to do with you.
