Bad bedside manner and racially profiles. Will not be seeing him again. Wait time was over an hour.
Since developing autoimmune hepatitis, I have been seeing Dr. Wakil and his NP Marice Thomas for over a year. They have provided amazing expertise and care. They quickly arrived at the correct diagnosis and developed a plan for my recovery. Dr. Wakil and the team at CPMC provided hepatology services through an office here in Humboldt county from 1995 until 2022. As a local nurse practitioner I was always happy that I could refer patients with liver disease to them. Although they don't have an office here any longer, they do ... read more
I first saw Dr. Wakil in 2013. I was 420 lbs. and very ill. I was first misdiagnosed with Leukemia due to the nature of my blood panels. I had bleeding varices, often woke up with a bloody nose, and had perpetual bruising. When I made it to Dr. Wakil I was really scared. He informed me I was killing myself with food and that I should change immediately if I wanted to live. I then decided to lose weight. I was ready to do it, not try, attempt, or do my best. Now, 10 years later, I weigh 257. Miraculously, as the weight came o... read more
NThis man said some pretty messed up things to me. Like many doctors he just regurgitates his training and has no bedside manner, massive ego. I guess that's 'normal' but should it be? If we don't expect better these people will never be held accountable to higher standards. Complete lack of empathy and basic human respect and kindness. 1 star.
On January 2011 I was diagnosed with advanced Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the Liver. My liver was not working properly and the only alternative to an imminent death was a liver transplant. I was referred to Dr. Adil S. Wakil at the CPMC Liver Transplant Department. The first day my wife and I visited the clinic, we were both in a state of anxiety, fear, and hopelessness. On that first meeting, Dr. Wakil explained the options that were available to me, the process to be followed to be placed in the waiting list to receive a li... read more
I saw Dr. Wakil for End Stage Liver Failure. It was scary and I live far from a large population - so there care available to me was not much. You kinda have to take what you can get. Thank heavens I got Dr. Wakil and his team, who come through my area once every two months to see folks. At first it felt cold, and sterile, and hopeless. It's hard to remember how busy these folks are at first. Long story short, the care I received saved my life. Even though my appointments were spread out, they always made room for me and alw... read more
