I usually don't do reviews, but my experience was at Down East Community Hospital actually was a pleasant one. Everyone was SUPER nice and very accommodating. MRI ladies (Robin Fisher and Sherry Murphy)were AMAZING.

I had a total hip replacement done on May 5th, 2025 at Downeast Community Hospital in Machias. I am now 4 months post op and feel like a miracle just happened to me. I no longer have that excruciating bone on bone pain and I can walk normal again. Dr. Ahmad did an amazing job with the surgery, and I recommend him with all my heart! The Downeast Maine area is very lucky to have such a skilled surgeon that can do this kind of surgery. I am an 83 year old woman from Addison, who has summered there for 55 years. I fell off a deck, tripping over a plant. Yesterday, I called the hospital and asked the best procedure for Xrays after a fall. I was told to come to emergency. From intake at 8 am til discharge at 10:30, I was treated efficiently and kindly each step of the way. My xrays showed cracked ribs and some torso trauma. Let me just say they are the worst hospital on the planet especially the Emergency Room mostly because recently they kept my child in there for 12 hours while having hard time breathing and then sent him to Bangor just get told he has a cold I’m beyond pissed at Machias they told me my sons health was critical that’s why they transferred him and also wanted to keep me captive I’m a single mom had to go pick up some belongs at are house and I told them I’ll be back they said you can’t leave I said I have to they also didn’t w... read more
