The first immediate impressions were good. However, those impressions were tossed aside pretty quickly. I stayed here for a work trip. Upon check in, the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The room seemed nice and modern, but there are some things that need attention. One of my trash cans wasn't emptied prior to my stay. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud. Convenient location next to the airport, literally 5 minutes away. But the check-in process and employee there were awful. The check-in clerk was too busy talking on her cell phone on the couch in the lounge area and barked at me, what's your last name, as she was finishing her call. This was at 9pm. Once I finally got checked in (it took an abnormally long time - I bet it was because she forgot her password or something like that), the room smelled of mold. I travel to Savannah every other week for 4-5 days. This DoubleTree had better rates than normal so I chose to stay here for the first time. I immediately realized why the rates were so low.....the parking lot was under construction with gravel, equipment, broken up pavement, and dusty conditions. Then they blocked off half of the parking lot. I appreciate maintenance and upgrades, but there's not enough parking when they blocked off half of the lot. Checked into hotel (2 room suite) through Hilton app. Got room key at the front desk. Lobby was hot. Got to room which was very hot. Thermostat in 1 bedroom showed "err." There was a fan in that room. The thermostat in the living area was 81. Go back to front desk. Known ongoing problem with thermostat in that room. No other suite available. WHY was that room even available??? Men's and women's restrooms in lobby had only bar soap. Who does that??? No regular rooms together available which wasn't doable for my family. I would give this place a zero star if I could. We had to change rooms at midnight due to fire ants in our bed over a 100 of them. We are a family of 4 with 2 boys under 8. We had to ride an elevator that had an expired inspection tag. The one displayed showed expired as of July 2026. The coffee creamer was months out of date and like sludge. On and on and on…..
