First impressions matter, and sadly, this DoubleTree Hilton in downtown Montgomery fails right from the curb. Pulling up, I was shocked by how tired and neglected the building looked—grimy walls in desperate need of a power wash, a parking lot that felt cramped and awkward, and an underground garage that was downright creepy. I loved this Motel6! Oh wait, it’s the DoubleTree by Hilton Montgomery Downtown. Nah, it sucks! At check in, the digital key system was down, so all guest checking had to sit in the lobby and wait for “roll call” for their turn. I sat for 3 hours. Check in to the room and I can’t find a trash can, but looks like the last guest had the same problem as they left their beer cans/bottles under the sink (see photo). Hotel is in a good location. Hotel rooms need to be updated, not worth the daily pricing. I checked in on a Friday morning. On Sunday morning, I was woken by a knock on my door by police officers. Along with the police was a hotel front desk clerk who claimed that the room I was occupying was showing vacant in their system. After being falsely accused of not reserving the room, I was escorted by police to the front desk to verify that I in fact reserved and checked in on that Friday. Idk why this place has such horrible reviews, but we stayed here last night and were super worried because we didn’t see the reviews till after we booked it. Well we got to the hotel, super friendly clerk at the front desk, there was apparently an issue with the room we had booked so they upgraded us free of charge. Our room was quite big, it was clean, tidy, organized, etc. the bathroom was clean with all the necessary things stocked I.e toilet paper, towels, etc, but it looked like they cleaned the shower but didn’t squeeg... read more
