I am honestly disgusted by the way Donna Rivera treated me during my first appointment with her. I drove from El Mirage to Chandler seeking gynecological help due to pain I’ve been experiencing in my pelvic area, and she was the soonest available provider. I can see why she was the only option available, because I can’t imagine anyone willingly choosing to see this woman for their concerns. I did not feel listened to or helped during my visit. The provider relied heavily on a script, avoided eye contact, and dismissed my concerns. When I explained that exhaustion from poor sleep was interfering with my daily life and preventing me from going to the gym as regularly as I was when the symptoms began her only advice was to “go to the gym more.” This felt disconnected from what I had actually shared. Absolutely horrible visit. I said I wanted to talk about menopause and I specifically came to see her because she supposedly is an expert in it. I drove 30 minutes for the appointment. Not only did we end up not doing anything for menopause, she didn’t even lead the appointment. Her new midwife trainee did. That’s defeats the purpose of why I went there. This was by far the worst experience I had as a woman visiting a doctor. Donna Rivera lacks compassion, empathy and understanding. I was referred to see a OB by my doctor for further assessment of health concern. She didn’t take my health concern serious and she was very condescending. Mind you. Saw Donna last week, I June 2023 for the first time. She was so kind and listened to my concerns. She put me at ease as to what was happening with me and dispelled all my fears. We conversed about the best course of action and I feel very confident she knows her stuff. I have an appt to go back in three months just to make sure the course we are taking is doing what it’s supposed to.
