Service was ok, coffee was stale, tea was old. Disappointed, ordered beef tacos, the Sombrero plate I believe it was, got a plate of flank steak tough, some sautéed onions covered with cheese. Some retried beans and a scoop of rice. No guacamole, lettuce or tomato. Never eaten in a Mexican restaurant and not been served guacamole
We were denied service because according to the waiter my boyfriend was wearing a muscle shirt. Which it wasn't. There were no patrons in the restaurant either. We have been going to Don Pepe's for as long as I can remember, and I've never felt so belittled like I did today. If this is what this establishment stands for then this is very wrong. Two long time customers lost.
You go to the restaurant to get a quick bite and the employees didn't allow me in because I'm wearing an Adidas shirt that looks like a muscle shirt which is no where near the material of a muscle shirt or design. There were no customers in the restaurant only employees and they denied me and my girlfriend service. If I ran a restaurant I would educate my employees when there is a proper time to make an exception especially when there is no business coming through I took my business to Costa Mesa restaurant very disappointed... read more

RecommendedTrying Don Pepe’s today for the first time, there some things I liked and some things I didn’t. But, I would be willing to come back and try some different dishes. My meal starts with 2 salsas and a vegetable soup. One salsa was roasted and served warm while the other was served cold and was more of a traditional style- both were excellent as was the soup.
