Dogtopia of North Portland, in one word … incredible. The staff genuinely care for the comfort and well being of all the animals. After only a few visits they knew my name and of course my pup’s. I use Dogtopia to socialize my pup and also get out some extra energy. They partner with an awesome program where you can measure your pup’s activity. Indie has already walked the distance of California Route 1. She now knows the word ‘school’ and gets excited for her daycare days.
I unfortunately cannot recommend this Dogtopia. My dog stayed here for the first time and was bitten in the face by another dog while in their care, resulting in a puncture wound that required veterinary treatment. When I asked to be reimbursed for the vet bill, I was told no because they considered both dogs “at fault.” When I asked what my dog had done wrong, I was told he had put his paws on the other dog, and the other dog responded by biting him. Edit: I called my friend who works for Seattle Humane and has worked with dogs for many years, to ask her take on the situation. Considering his behavior, which didn't stick out to her as odd, she said it seems like he didn't want to be dealt with today and that y'all were maybe understaffed, because if it were her in the same situation, she would have kept an eye on him and looked for any strange behaviors beyond the pug stare and lower energy. Freya had a great time staying here as we had gone on vacation. We noticed some changes in her mannerisums that we are delighted to see less of. She's one happy pupper! And I would definitely entrust the staff with our girl again. Hopefully soon she'll be back for some doggy daycare and training!
