one of the best – Yummy yumface Korean food in a stylish setting. The only Korean restaurant that comes close to this in downtown Manhattan is Dok Suni (same owners, East Village). The Kimchi Pajun, Japchae, bibimbop and kimchi chigae are some of my favorites. Bulgogi for BBQ. All the flavors are authentic but they don't make the dishes that might make some Westerners feel squeamish so order away you really can't go wrong. It is a pleasure to avoid the formal service and staid atmosphere of some of the large Koreatwon restau... read more

Love this Korean! – This is the best place for korean food outside of Korea Town. It's been around by what NY standards seems like forever but each time I have been there, either in an intimate group or with a large one, it has been a great dining experience. The food is great, for meat lovers, the BBQ is always fresh and great tasting. It's great for party's,like birthdays or other occasion, but you have to keep it small if you want to fit at the BBQ tables. A high recommend!!!

Best Korean we've found. – My wife and I just moved to NYC from Jeonju, South Korea and have found it quite difficult to find any authentic Korean food. Most things are done up sweet to cater to local tastes or otherwise odd. Not Do Hwa. The atmosphere is authentic and yet still speaks of New York chic. The side dishes were plentiful and the flavors just as I remembered them. The entree, a seafood soup, came out steaming hot and the flavor was perfect. Every dish was just as spicy as it should be and we were very satisfied. ... read more

Reliable Yummy Korean Food and Great Ambience – I love this place because it's big enough to get together with a group of friends for lunch or dinner, the bartenders are great, the waiting staff are very friendly and efficient. As a Korean who grew up eating Korean food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the food here is good, consistent, and reliable. The whole look of the place is definitely catering to Westerners, but it's still a hot place with a really nice ambience at happy hour and afterwards. The music they play is go... read more

Yummy Yummy In My Top 4.5 Law School Tummy – Do Hwa is a great restaurant. Great food, atmosphere, and service. I have been here on numerous occasions and know for a fact that it would provide the ideal setting for students from a top 4.5 law school that are looking to let their hair down and celebrate the completion of their 1L year. It is also particularly amusing to tell people where you are going... When you say "Do Hwa" try putting the emphasis on the "Hw" in Hwa and say it like you are kung-fu-chopping someone. Great f... read more

Excellent Food and Drinks - Great Date Spot – Even with my expectations set so high this place delivered. I went to Do Hwa to celebrate my Mom's birthday with a large group. The food and ambience was so impressive that I took my date there the following week. I recommend the short ribs, watercress and Kimichi pancake. Also, the cosmopolitans I had were delicious. Gotta go at least once! -GNG

definitely not hibachi – If Japanese hibachi is what you're used to, Korean BBQ is not for you. Unless you want to leave the comfort of you home to cook your own food for $50 that is. Don't be deceived by the happy hour specials because those yummy cocktails on the menu are not included.

User review by siana806 – This place valiantly tries to make Korean food both trendy and less foreign. For those of you who have never tried Korean food before, this might be a good way to start developing a palate for it; for those of you who are Korean food veterans, you all already know that K-Town's where the better stuff is. On the up side, this place doesn't grill their meat on tables, so you won't be smelling like your dinner on the way out with your date (it's a great date spot).

A dark, fashionable spot serving fine Korean cuisine. – The Scene The stylish, starkly designed space has a vaguely cinematic theme. Expanses of black wood, white screens and oversized tables give it a comfortable modern feel. Service is friendly, hip and understated, quite suited to the sleek downtown crowd. Extras, like a film series, DJs and occasional celebrity sightings, keep the atmosphere dynamic. The Food The Korean dishes here are a bit more delicate than the potent fare found 30 blocks north, but the kitchen is har... read more
