I have purchased a DNA kit for my previous dog... Different Company, many years ago, and I thought this kit would offer the same as that one... It did not, however, the customer service I received from this test far exceeded my expectations! What I received from this test was a breakdown of percentages of type of dogs my dog is made up from and possible temperaments. Several months later I received some genotyping as well. It's a good basic test for a beginner just learning about their dog.
Imagine paying any amount of money for a DNA test to hear your dog is a pure bred German Shepherd when he very clearly isn’t. Total scam. Steer clear. EDIT: We followed up with the company. They asked for a picture of our dog (that’s not how DNA screening works) then sent us and updated and still very incorrect assessment. Now they are accusing us of “spamming” bad reviews. No accountability. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
Absolute scam and a waste of money. While their costumer service is great, the information sent for both dogs i did was not correct. My 12 pound very obvious dachshund mix came back as lab, border collie boxer. I emailed costumer service who agreed the photo and description did not match the results and said she would contact the lab and possible send me a new test. Instead I received the same report with a magical 3 percent min pin suddenly found.... My other dog was also quite questionable, but the small dog made it quite ... read more
It took time to get the results, but I live in Italy, so it's a mail service problem. The test was quite precise, not 100% perfect, but for small things (my dog has some white fur despite it should not have following the test)
We actually laughed out loud at the results as they are genuinely impossible. We got our dog from a litter of coonhound x lab cross. We know that our dog's mother is a coonhound (met in person with the coonhound litter), but the father was a mixed lab breed. We were curious what mix the lab side was, so ordered this test. Our results came back as 100% German Shepard. Obviously this test is so wildly inaccurate that there is truly no point to ordering the test at all.
