I was provided with the DonJoy UltraSling III at the hospital following a complex shoulder surgery. Unfortunately, I found the sling to be extremely uncomfortable and poorly suited for patient recovery. The sling is very bulky, which made it difficult to wear any clothing with sleeves. The inner part of the sling has seams that irritated and scratched my skin. I experienced severe itching and developed a red rash on my arm. DJO Global called me saying I owed money for an aircast boot. I have received no bill at all only this phone call. I called twice asking for a bill to be sent to me, provided my physical address, and nothing was sent. Now they sent me to collections, why oddly enough is Enovis their parent company. Still no physical bill, I just wanted to ensure it was real. Seems like a scam.
Charging the hospital $330 for a product I found for under $40, having "adjusted" it down -$148 then insurance paying $148 leaving my balance literally the exact same as if I purchased it on my own own tells you all you need to know about why our insurance rates are so high. These companies have literally zero ethics in a business that is supposed to be actually helping people.
Really bad customer service and outrageous prices. Beware- the self pay cost is insanely lower than what they bill insurance and make you pay out of pocket with insurance. They are not helpful over the phone and bad at explaining things. I feel like I got ripped off.
DJO rep came to my house to drop off a restrainer after a shoulder surgery. I made sure to ask if there was a co-pay. He assured me that this would be 100% covered by my insurance company. To my surprise, I now have a bill. They are liars. Beware!!! I tried multiple times to reach then to discuss the matter and was tossed around to person to person. They will play games with you until you submit.
