Nowhere Else I'd Rather Begin – Dinky Music Recording Studios, I owe you a lot. We went from nothing to a nice fat something in a short amount of time, and we owe much of this to you!
I went into Dinky in January of 2009 to record my band's - Ana Kefr - debut album, "Volume 1." 14 tracks to be done in a week, I thought we were insane for expecting it to happen. It was my first time in a studio, my first band, my first album, my first everything. So, naturally, I was terrified that the staff would be a bunch of dickheads, that we'd get a shit-sounding album for good money paid, and that in the end I'd regret it all. I'm a pessimist in business and an optimist in life, I guess. After a couple of tours through the studios with the band, we returned in January and worked our asses off. Natrixx, one of the staff engineers, worked on the bulk of the recording process and then Billie Stevens, the owner of Dinky, came in and mastered it all. Now, we're a metal band without a bass - so I was concerned that the guy behind the mixing board would be some no-talent gaylord. Instead, Billie and all of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and, above all, professional. The proof is that we finished a 14-track album that sounds phenomenal as far as the production - and we did so within a week. Regardless of whether you like metal or not, listening to the record will immediately impress you with the crystal-clear quality of the audio.
Incredible production, the studio puts out award-winning sound, and we've continued to work with them because not only are they just far better than many of the other studios we could have gone to, but they go the extra mile to make sure that those they work with will walk away with success just waiting to grow in their hands. We were briefed for the 'artist consultation,' part of one of their package deals, and here's the result:
We're on 34 terrestrial radio stations around the USA and Canada, and on a good handful of international stations as well.
We're on 43 internet radio stations.
We've got a shitload of album reviews and interviews, and more coming in all the time.
And we've got our heads in the right places. The staff of Dinky have the experience and know-how to direct hard-working artists in the right areas so real results can be obtained. I am beyond happy that we recorded with Dinky, and can't fully express how glad I am that my business pessimism didn't get in the way of what has been, in the end, the opportunity to grow far faster than I could have imagined. Thanks, Dinky!
