Let's Be Honest – Dickey's is to barbeque what Chipotle is to Mexican food - food chain generic. Nonetheless, just as Chipotle has a following so does Dickey's. While the meat lacks significant smoke flavor, the sauce (I like spicy) is competent and portions are reasonably generous. Be sure to add fried okra! Family members are also impressed with the pickelus giganticus and the complimentary soft-serve ice-cream. Classic BBQ – So I could tell you about the laid back atmosphere and the great service at Dickey's, but I'm a guy and the most important thing about this place is how great the food is. You can really tell that they do use fresh meat and smoke it themselves (I could even see them "loading the pit", as they say, for myself) because its so juicy and tender, definitely not cooked ahead of time and all dried out like other places. Use to be great – If you dont get your brisket early on a new brisket, you will end up with spongie meat. I am a bbqaholic. Most other bbq places must cook their meat longer to break down grissle. What irrates me the most is that on several occasions I have complaimed.....and the whole crew acts like your an idiot. I want Dickeys to be good, so I have started asking for a new brisket for the meat on my plate....but again you would have thought I just robbed the place. Awesome Family Resturant – Dickey's is a great alternative to all the other fast food places out there today. I brought my family in last Sunday (kids eat free on Sunday!!) and everyone, even my 2 year old, left happy and full. They have healthy sides like corn on the cob, green beans and mac and cheese that our kids love and we felt good giving to them (but they do have lots of yummy fried food for the big kids!).
