My mother was a DeSmet resident for 5 years. She loved her apartment, enjoyed the socialization with her fellow peers , and loved to attend the Happy Hour socials and all the special events. My mom passed away on January 13. NOT ONE representative of DeSmet attended any of my mom’s services; they did not, at the very least, send a condolence card. We did plan to transport staff members and residents to the services on our bus, but a severe weather advisory and bad road conditions made it necessary for us to cancel that plan. I apologize that we were only able to notify your family of the change a day in advance.
