Deseret Power, founded in 1978, is a nonprofit regional generation and transmission cooperative in South Jordan in Utah. The cooperative sells surplus power to municipalities, power marketers and wholesale electric systems in more than four U.S states. It owns over 220 miles of transmission lines, as well as generates 500 megawatts of power. Deseret Power also manages a primary generating resource, Bonanza Power Plant, which is a coal-fired facility in the United States. The cooperative is owned by retail systems, including the Moon Lake Electric Association, Bridger Valley Electric, Dixie Escalante Electric, Flowell Electric, Garkane Energy Cooperative and Mt. Wheeler Power.
