The door seal on my unit was allowed to get so destroyed by the elements that water leaked in, wicking up the lumber buffer I had on the floor and damaging the contents of the boxes on top. Other renters I had talked to reported similar lack of maintenance. They could afford to maintain their buildings more preemptively, to prevent damage to stored property.
