Crowded, but excellent food – We went there around 8pm on a Friday night and the place was packed. There were 7 of us and they don't take reservations on the weekends (and yes, Friday night is considered part of the weekend), so we had to wait a bit. Once we were seated, the service was good. My husband and I both had the flat iron steak with summer salad. Amazing! Peppery steak and fresh crunchy greens. I can't wait to go back and have it again. Another friend got the figs and polenta, which I tasted, and it was yummy too. ... read more
Brews and food by the river – This has become a great riverside location. When the weather is nice(r), sitting outside, by the Petaluma river, enjoying an ale brewed on site and some really nice dishes put together by an efficient kitchen, it does not get any better. And there is plenty of parking. Still my favorite place to stop at every time I am in Petaluma and that, since 1991. Highly recommended.
Great Food, Friendly Service! – We've been to Dempsey's several times and always enjoyed very good food. The main menu has some very tasty standards (great pork chops) but their specials always stand out. They use many local ingredients and turn out creative spins on old favorites. It has some nice riverfront seating and always friendly service. Service is attentive but more relaxed than the hustle of the Bay Area. Go to enjoy the great food and nice comfortable atmosphere.
Good lunch spot – I just Do Not Get the Beer here. However, fries and a burger on the River are a good lunch combination. Salads can be great or totally underdressed but you can always ask for more dressing
Nice location – Just moved to town and were looking for a "regular" place to go. I like micro-brew beer so it seamed like a good place. We figured that if its a restaurant & brewery there would be a full bar but its only beer & wine. A ding for my wife who likes cocktails. The food is mostly made from local in season ingredients (from there own farm if possible) it was a limited menu with lots of things that seemed overly fancy. The beer was good but there was nothing we were super excited about for dinner. The deserts were ... read more
Good French Fries – I have passed Dempsey's so many times and wanted to try it. Others have suggested it was a great place. Finally my daughter and I were out for a local event downtown and decided to go there for lunch. We had my grandchildren (age 10, 6, 5) with us. We ordered the Greens Salad w/Goat Cheese, A child burger w/mashed instead of fries and an order of Fries for the young ones who had already eaten. Iced Tea for us and sodas for the girls. We had to ask for sweetener for the tea. Refills were never offered. The... read more
