Had extremely poor experience with Dr. Debra Tanner Abell. Would rate her quality of care, bedside manner, and office protocols all very low. Would NOT recommend her dermatology practice.
A visit to Dr. Abell in Dec 2020 was for a severe finger ulceration. The recommendation from her was to refill a topical medication from a previous doctor & also use a product sold in her front office, The condition worsened & in March 2021, after placing an urgent phone call, Dr. Abell directed me to the ER to have the ulceration drained. The finger was becoming gangrenous. Takes Advantage of new clients. Makes you schedule in as many appointments as possible so they can charge you for each visit. The practitioners and the front office (billing and scheduling) do not communicate together whatsoever, it’s like they don’t even work in the same office. I received multiple bills from multiple entities, none of which were ever explained by a single person at this practice during any of my MULTIPLE visits cause they do not care. Avoid avoid avoid! First experience with a specialist and the worst.
Dr. Abell gave the best and most thorough full body skin exam I have ever had. From my toes to my noes she looked at everything and explained as she went on. She is my new favorite dermatologist! Plus, I love the fact that she gave me cosmetic skin advise (when I asked). Going here from now on - she's the best!
Have gone to Dr. Abell’s office for many years and have always received thorough diagnosis and removal of many basal cell carcinomas and a facial melanoma. Unlike many doctors in today’s Insurance dictated assembly line medicine, Dr. Abell actually spends time thoroughly examining and then diagnosing any area of concern. She listens to your concerns and then will give a plan of treatment. I would not return if I did not feel she was the best dermatologist for my care.
With work and school it's hard to find the time to go to the doctors. I'm glad Dr. Abell has Saturday morning appointments a few times per month. I was in and out! As a bonus, she has coffee and cookies for those early morning appointments too!
I was referred to Dr. Abell by a buddy of mine after I was complaining about two other dermatologists who just didn't get it right. My buddy said the "skin doctor" will get my psoriasis right. I was skeptical. I made an appointment with Dr. Abell and to my surprise, I felt like she really cared about my problem and was so reassuring that she would find a way to treat it. Creams creams and more creams. I had a chronic ear infection and went to my ear, nose and throat doctor and another dermatologist for 4 years. All they gave me were steroid creams. My ear never got better! I went to Dr. Abell, she cultured my ear immediately and found that I had a bacterial infection. She gave me an antibiotic instead of a steroid cream. It cleared and never came back! Should have gone to her 4 years ago!
I had microneedling of my face done by the PA Amy. Wonderful! My face has never been so soft. My boyfriend even noticed and said I was glowing!!
