The room was absolutely horrible. First, the deadbolt on the door didn't lock, so safety concern right there. Second, when I went to use the bathroom and lifted the toilet lid, there was a cockroach on the seat. Not only that but the toilet didn't flush. We killed it and decided to look around the room for more bugs. Under the air conditioner/ heater, there was black mold and baby roaches. Located by a construction site, behind an abandoned building, you'll find the Days Inn in Ashland. You'll be greeted by at least 5 roaches on entering your room. Make sure you pull your door tight, it doesn't latch and homeless people will try to visit. My room came complete with a faulty switch by the sink. I plugged in the coffee pot and the microwave lost power. There were cobwebs for decoration, I guess. It was supposed to be non smoking but stunk to high heaven of cigarettes. This place is disgusting and should not be renting rooms to anyone. The room had roaches, and the AC/heat unit was full of mold — you can literally see the black gunk inside the vents. Breathing that all night is not “budget,” it’s a health hazard. The bathroom was just as bad. The shower/tub is peeling and worn out, like it’s never been properly maintained. This is a clean, comfortable, budget friendly hotel with a Great location just a few blocks off I-95 (Exit 92, about 20-25 minutes from Downtown Richmond, VA). Restaurants, Shopping, and Auto/Truck Services are all available nearby. If you are expecting absolute perfection (at this price point) this may not be the option for you.
