Very knowledgeable in what he does. I had one hip done in 2015 and the other last week. He answered any questions before and after my surgery. Staff is great and office staff are outstanding to help you in anything you need. If you do not like a doctor who tells you the way it is then search somewhere else. He is very stern and sugarcoats nothing. When you are in his care do what he says and no problems. If your looking for the nice guy type doctor then your in the wrong place. Grade A plus Dr!
Dr. Bortel performed a total hip replacement on me in 2015 and it was worse than before I had surgery. I had pain everyday and lost most of my flexibility. I had another surgeon in Knoxville, TN fix Bortel's surgery 15 months later. It now feels great and my flexibility is excellent. I would not send anyone to Bortel for a hip replacement. His ego is greater than his skill.
Dr. Bortel, and his staff are excellent in my opinion. I've only had two appointments with Dr. Bortel and got in really quick, with no wait time at his office or at the hospital.
Dr. Bortel performed my third ACL sugery and I was very pleased with my expedience with not only him but with his staff as well. He is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain my options prior to surgery. It was apparent that he genuinely cared about me and making me better, which put my worries to rest and I fully trusted his opinion and abilities to fix my knee. Having had two other knee surgeries from two different doctors, I can say that he was a breath of fresh air. Thank you!
